Voltage is not a cost choice so much as a must-get-right: each machine is built for 110, 220, 230 or 240 V AC at 50 or 60 Hz, so confirm your supply before anything else.

Running costs to plan for
The purchase is a one-off; these costs recur:

- filter and membrane replacement
- cleaning and sanitising supplies
- laboratory water tests
- card payment fees, if you accept cards
- site rent or a revenue share with the host
- cash collection time, if you accept coins or notes
Filter cartridges and other consumables are excluded from warranty coverage, so budget for them from day one.
